Bangkok Week 769

March 23, 2023

What a busy week! Granny arrived late Friday night; we visited the farm after a long hiatus; our baby Lucy turned 1 year old on Monday; and so much fruit arrived from Trat! Happy, happy, happy first birthday, our Little Lucy!

Happy Friday, says little Lucy with a big command of the couch.

She's excited to be back at swimming after a week away.

Do we really have to do cup conditioning, Mum?

It's a tough call: stand and play with the toys, or swim?

Lucy enjoys using the noodle.

Lucy! You're supposed to jump off the mat, just like all your peers.

Well, she had fun today.

Back at home, someone gives a big toothy smile.

Arlo’s excited for the weekend, and is pretending to be a dog.

Arlo accompanied Dad on a mission, to prepare for Granny's arrival...

Bangkok Week 768

Arlo turns 3 1/2 this week! He also discovers his love of dresses, has a wonderful time at his school’s open house, and otherwise, he and his sister are both up to their normal shenanigans.

Hello and happy Friday!

Lucy tries eating with chopsticks for the first time.

The older monkey is happy that the weekend is here.

Arlo's decided he's going to be Chrysanthemum for book day in 2 weeks. So he's trying on Lucy's clothes to see which dresses he might borrow.

The next morning, Arlo's got his heart set on wearing his Chrysanthemum dress today, too.

And so off we go, dress and all, to the Enchanted Forest morning at his school.

He wasted no time jumping in to see the bunnies.

Lucy came again this year (she also went last year, but slept through the whole thing...)

Also wasted no time finding a bright green cupcake to eat.

It's coconut ice cream for Lucy. Brr!

Annabel's older campus has a lovely butterfly house.

The butterflies were clearly told to be on their best behavior...

... and were out for all the kids to see.

Lucy made it through the morning without a nap, and she's still got energy left in her.

Bangkok Week 767

It’s the first long weekend of the year, and what a packed one it was! We met with several families after a long time away, celebrated the birthday of one of Arlo’s friends, went skating, drove an offroader… and even got 3 new cactus paddles! Phew! Time for a rest.

Good morning, Lucy. Enjoying the early light?

Arlo's got his game face on: it's a special day at school today.

Carnival!

And we definitely under-estimated the scale of the event!

Arlo preferred to play in the sand, away from all the noise and chaos.

Thankfully, Arlo took to this Purim Gragger, and so I was able to extract myself.

Later, there was a magic show. We *think* there was a real bird under this cloth.

Back at home, Lucy is enjoying the quiet morning to herself.

Stop the presses. We see *three* new cactus paddles on top of this guy!

Today, Lucy is enjoying lunch in her Abu (the monkey) hat.

I had to hype up this tiny "classic" pick-up truck, in order to get Arlo to leave school. Thankfully, it was still parked there!

And icing on the Friday cake: the cactus was in bloom again! This flower lasted only one afternoon.

Someone's happy that her brother is home, and is here to read with him too.

Arlo’s school break ends, and it’s back to school on Monday (!). But before that, he has 2 swimming lessons, back-to-back lunch appointments, and no shortage of other mischief. Oh, and Lucy’s really into her nose.

Welcome back! Here's Lucy, pretending to be interested in a book for Dad's benefit.

Bangkok Week 765

Arlo is on mid-term break this week: so we go back to Trat (for the first time since August) and enjoy a private session on the ice rink on Wednesday morning. And Lucy turns 11 months old this week — less than one month left with our little infant!

Lucy's at swimming again -- that must mean it's Friday!

It was another busy week, the highlight of which was an extravagant birthday party for one of Arlo’s classmates. Lucy celebrated her first Valentine’s Day; and Arlo is only one month away from being 3 1/2 years old.

February 9, 2023

Poor Lucy was sick most of the week (at least she’s gotten her Roseola done with) but was in good spirits nevertheless. Arlo enjoyed a trip to the park, a few new toys, and lots of time playing at home. And lucky Mum upgraded her phone!

Someone's up and having a very busy morning! Don't forget to go to school, buddy!

And this stunned lady still can't believe we woke her up from her nap.

What a busy week! We celebrate Dad’s 4Nth birthday, have a full morning out at the park, and Arlo and Lucy get their 3rd COVID vaccine, and are now fully vaccinated. Phew!

Meanwhile, Lucy is seizing the day.

Not-so-little-Lucy turns 10 months old this week! She has her first dentist appointment (along with her brother), and otherwise, we enjoy a nice low-key week at home.

To celebrate, Lucy has a good workout at swimming.

Entirely out-of-character, Arlo went running up to Lucy saying, "Hi, Lucy! I love you Lucy!" and gave her a big hug. Showing off for all the right reasons.

Bangkok Week 759

January 12, 2023

Oh no! We’re down to the last few days of the holiday break, and Granny and Grandpa’s last week in Bangkok.

We begin this last holiday Friday with a boat ride from Captain Arlo.

But Captain Arlo has a very curious passenger today. Dare I say, a backseat driver!

The boat has reached its destination: and now it's time to dust the shelves.

Arlo has learned very well from K. Wan, who won't have to dust this specific spot tomorrow, because it's been done very thoroughly today!

Next up: a long-awaited transplant operation.

This magical cactus has almost a dozen babies in need of transplant that have started to grow their own roots.

Next, working hard on the entry for his learning journey.

Happy 2023! We rang in the new year this week (in a very, very low-key way) but still did some exotic local excursions: Benjakitti Forest Park, the National Aviation Museum of the Royal Thai Air Force, and even the Farm!

Spending the last afternoon of 2022 at one of Arlo's favorite places -- the farm.

But since we were last here (in ~July), they have opened up the remainder of the elevated walkways in the park's north-western corner.

So there's lots of space, and many paths, to walk now.

Lucy's sitting up the whole time, but there aren't as many people to see around here as in other parks.

Rayong - Boxing Week 2022

December 30, 2022

For the holidays this year, we spent 4 days and 3 nights at our favorite resort in Rayong: Marriott Resort and Spa. It was Lucy’s first time seeing the sea, and Arlo’s first time really enjoying the sand. Enjoy!

We're off to Rayong in a few hours... and here's our new ride for the journey!

Uh oh! We haven't even left the driveway, and Arlo's eating his snacks and asking if we're there yet!

What a busy few days! We enjoyed a nice outing at the park on Christmas Eve; had an exceptionally long and tiring Christmas Day; and then went ice skating on Boxing Day!

Bangkok Week 756

December 22, 2022

School is done for the year, and yet it was a super busy week! Arlo and Lucy had their last swimming lessons of the year; we had a tiring visit to P’Kate’s house for her birthday; we went ice skating with Fynn; Lucy turned 9 months old; and finally Granny and Grandpa arrived for their holiday visit! Phew!

This is Lucy's last swimming lesson for the year!

She can hold herself up on the wall all by herself now.

No one seems to want to do the cup conditioning today. Everyone is crawling away or eating the cups.

Lucy is very good at swimming underwater now.

She really enjoys the mat because it's a great opportunity to see eye-to-eye with her peers.

He's much more comfortable on his skates, and can even stand without being supported!

By the end, he was comfortable skating only holding one hand.

It’s the day we’ve been waiting for for weeks: Arlo’s Christmas performance. It was nicely done, but everyone was warm and fatigued by the end. We celebrated Arlo’s friend’s 3rd birthday, and then went into the last school week of the year. The holidays are coming!

Friday morning: first order of business for Santa is to open the advent calendar!

Lucy is excited, too.

It's Arlo's school Christmas show today! First up is one of the younger nursery classes.

And Teacher Irene's nursery class, dancing to Feliz Navidad.

Third up is Arlo's class, marching to Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker march.

They've been practicing for weeks.

It’s a long weekend in Thailand, so we have a long album this week. The days were spent outdoors (two visits to the park, and a visit to the farm), with Lucy just standing around whenever and wherever she could!

Christmas has come to Ekkamai 12. Bring on the holiday cheer! And Arlo tried his hands (and feet) at gymnastics for the first time. But K. Noi was out Monday thru Wednesday, so Mum and Dad were on double-duty.

Happy Friday! Lucy begins this week by spying on the neighbors.

Friday means swimming for Lucy!

Mum returns from Paris at long last; Yaa heads home; and Lucy turns 8 months old this week.

It's Friday morning! So Lucy, you know what that means!

This week, Lucy gets to swim with Dad, since Mum is still away.

Dad's no more lenient though: still pouring a full cup of water over Lucy's head.

Lucy's fine to just chill on this mat, thank you.

Meanwhile in Europe, the sun is rising over Paris.

The city is getting ready for the holiday season.

Hmm. What kind of car is this, and which side is the front?

Here's Eglise Saint Roch.

And the Grande Roue De Paris, peeking out at the end of a soi. I mean, Rue.

Beautiful blue skies, but Mum needs to hurry back to the hotel and head to the airport!

At Charles de Gaulle, the landscape is decidedly more dramatic.

And off we go, heading back to Bangkok. Busy morning at CDG!
